Shredded Flag

Thu, 11/21/2013 - 19:02 -- Myther

Laying on the ground

No longer is it there

Tumbling in the winds.

Getting left behind

No longer here and whole

It was taken down and destroyed

A totally captivated pride

We made it our symbol

We hoisted it up high

It stood for all we were

It represented our ideals

Then it started turning

It brought a sense of fear

No longer an object of respect

It seemed was just there

And then we started changing

Leaving our ideals

The meaning never changed

But the effect of them sure did

They used to see our flag

As a symbol of some hope

Then we started shredding

Our own waving flag

We changed our own ideals

And destroyed its legacy

No longer pride was focused on our flag

Now we see

And bend our heads in shame

Because we shredded our own flag.

Laying on the ground

No longer is it there

Tumbling in the winds.

Getting left behind

No longer here and whole

It was taken down and destroyed

A totally captivated pride

We made it our symbol

We hoisted it up high

It stood for all we were

It represented our ideals

Then it started turning

It brought a sense of fear

No longer an object of respect

It seemed was just there

And then we started changing

Leaving our ideals

The meaning never changed

But the effect of them sure did

They used to see our flag

As a symbol of some hope

Then we started shredding

Our own waving flag

We changed our own ideals

And destroyed its legacy

No longer pride was focused on our flag

Now we see

And bend our heads in shame

Because we shredded our own flag.
