Shower

Location

Sitting on the warm hard tiles engulfed with water and soap

Pondering about life and all of its hope

The water stops and the door swings open

Only to reveal a provoking commotion

Steam rises on the walls of my surroundings

As a new idea hit me that was very confounding

There was a monster in the mirror that I did not recognize

A certain kind of beast that society would despise

I had fed the hunger for years and years

Never denying it because of shear fear

I changed my lifestyle from that day forward

Because I was tired of feeling like... I was cornered

It took me my whole life to finally understand

That I deserved to be comfortable with who I am

Who knew the true power… of sitting in a shower?

March 24th, 2010

I stepped into the fitness world and haven't looked back since
