Should we really be ourselves?

Location

We are taught from a young age that being ourselves is the key,

Yet, when this is put into action we are judged from the inside, the outside, and everything in between.

Should we really be ourselves?

We are taught from a young age that being ourselves will lead to success,

But, when this is put into action it is not pleasing to the eyes of the ones who are called the "best."

Should we really be ourselves?

We are taught from a young age that being ourselves will make us leaders,

Yet, in this day and age the positive leaders are only known to the old history readers.

Should we really be ourselves?

We are taught from a young age that being ourselves will seal the deal,

But, in actuality the deal is only sealed when your personality qualifies as “real.”

Should we really be ourselves?

We are taught from a young age that being ourselves will make us better people,

Yet, the ones who are called better people were once known for being sinners and deceitful.

Should we really be ourselves?

We are taught from a young age that we learn from our experiences,

But, should we learn how to be ourselves from negative feedback on our speech and appearances.

Should we really be ourselves?

Why not be our dreams, breathe our dreams, and feel our dreams, and become the greatest of the greats, and explore the world that WE create!

Or should we be the complete opposite and unite as a generation of accepted fakes...
