The Shooting at Lekki Toll Gate

"Protesting is the language of the unheard" ~Martin Luther King Jr.

2017, No SARS they said,

they're bribing us of our money,

2018, Remove SARS they said,

they're raping our females

2019, Stop SARS they said,

they're killing our youths in cold blood

2020, END SARS they screamed

They took up their voices and raised their flags

Demanding justice for the victims of police brutality

Passionately pleading to whomever will listen

11 days they marched and sang

11 days of peaceful protest

October 1st 1960 -

Nigeria's independence from British rule,

October 10th 2020, 11 days after the #ENDSARS protest -

Nigeria's true independence

October 10th 2020: the day the military opened fire on their own citizens,

The day bodies dropped like ants, leaving the white flags, red

The Shooting at Lekki Toll Gate,

The day Nigeria was awoken
