She Said

Location

She said that she was unhappy

I asked her "with us, or with me"

She said she was sorry, but she could not say

And left me a tormented soul all day

She said "I love you" long before I

So why do those words all seem a lie

She said it first, but never again

Am I but an infatuation, reaching its end?

Her mind, so obscure, hidden by mist

She lets no one in, no matter how they insist

Her heart, so darling, when seen through my eyes

But weighted by agony, of an untold size

She said "I'm yours, and you are mine"

A cliche older than father time.

But believe her I did, and believe her I do

Despite how often she turns me blue

She said she is difficult, with that I agree

Only constant turmoil for us, I foresee

The root of our problems is the root of her being

To shield her heart from harm, she turns to fleeing

One instant "I loves you", the next a push

Her heart wrapped tight in thorny bush

Once approached it strikes and lashes

My body left a mess of sorrow and gashes

I plead for her mercy, and her mercy she gives

My soul barely left, but for her I still live

So I shout to the sky, to the heavens above

I will always pursue her, she is my one love
