She Once Was

She one was a pond,

So calm and so still.

One day it started to rain,

She was on a verge of a spill.

She once was a lake,

A splash here or there.

And when things got rough,

It became more than she could bare.

She once was a river,

The movement rocked her to the core.

She wanted to cry for help,

But the demons inside started to roar.

She once was an ocean,

with a dam keeping her from falling apart.

Today the last drop of rain fell before she broke,

Now she has a drought instead of a heart.

She is now a drought,

Rain can no longer break her, she can't feel.

Now she's empty,

Wondering if it's too late to heal.
