She Is Me and I Am Her

There's a moment

a moment in time

that one is judged

without reason or rhyme

One look and you see

so judgmental and mean

the person on the inside

is not what's perceived

She is blonde

so she must be dumb, right?

Wrong, so very wrong

you're not seeing the light

She is a girl

so she must not be strong

Incorrect, I'm afraid

your words do not belong

In fact, she IS blonde

but she is smart beyond compare

She is poised and precious

and does not care

She does not care

what you have to say

She IS a girl

a girl with muscles, who doesn't play

She is serious and elegant

and truthful no matter what

She will tell you you're wrong

that your perception is messed up

You are not seeing inside

her looks are all you care about

She is more than you give her credit

this I do not doubt

She walks with confidence

and she listens but doesn't hear

Your hurtful words do not phase her

for she does not care

She is me and I am her

and together we are strong

not listening to stereotypes

but living to the beat of our own song
