1 Corinthians 12:31

31 But you should be eager for the greater gifts.

And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison.

1 Corinthians 13:1

The Way of Love

13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels,

but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

It is said by the “well” learned

and stated in a lack of love,

that a well-developed specialty

is a “gift” from God above.

To be trained in music

or maybe a handyman

to preach after years of learning

maybe just a developed plan.

A talent can be developed

through directional will

then dedicated unto glory

won’t change that talent still.

Possible mind’s enslavement

to the will in world’s array,

makes the mind then splatter

in its own ideas one way.

A way leading to destruction,

Where the end in sight is bleak

Where death in degradation

rules to crush the helpless weak.

A gift is very different.

It’s not inherently yours.

Just from outside this creation

this measured in you for sure.

Not set in own limitations.

To be managed from within.

And as the fountain freely flows

filling our cup full to the brim.

Contained by this flowing river

is love and fruits thereof.

Like faith and grace that work

for good in the Saints of God.

Truth, obedience, sanctification,

guidance and freedom here abound.

Wisdom, knowledge, glorification,

healing, discern in tongues are found.

Gifts of God and talents of man

there is a difference in their use.

The first is used for the Glory of God,

the second by choice through you.
