Sharing and Caring

Deep breath and wipe away a tear,

“Oh god how did I get here?”

My eyes fall over the words

And my heart feels less of the hurt.

I send my work away

And obsess about it all day,

But when I see it a few weeks later

Highlighted in the school newspaper,

My worries soar and tear me down

And feel as if about to drown.

Until I see a new email

And know my poem is not a fail,

Because someone sent me a kind thank you

Saying they felt the same way too.

And for the first time in a while

I break out into a smile,

And that’s when I truly know

That I really am not alone.

And if not for writing out my grief

I would never held this belief.

And because of writing and sharing

And feeling others truly caring,

I would still feel all the pain,

But now I can move on again.
