“Next to of course God America do i
live free and home of the brave where you claim
that freemen shall stand in their lov’d home and war’s desolation
and you talk of a place that is blessed of victory and of peace
the same world where we drink and drive, are excessively buying
because in the mind of men money is the root to success,
not an illusion of heavens gateway, masked of pure evil See, a piece of paper governs our whole life and in the meantime young lives, overdose on drugs rooted from a cross of rage and love.
We talk about beauty because it exists in our dreams and what’s more beautiful that to dream? A disguise of men taking selfish action to escape themselves from a reality
That’s freedom of mind. Egotistical freedom.
You believe blood has washed out foul footsteps pollution. War will never win victory of the spirit. Lives our dead and souls rest upon us, from a fight that cannot be suit.
Shall the voice of liberty be mute?”

She cried. And buried her face back into her pad and continued to write.

I wrote this for my Poetry class this semester, the format was inspired by Poet, E.E. Cummings. I incorporated my own ideas and language. I also incorporated the song, "My Country Tis of Thee" in order to take traditional values and contrast it with what we value in society today.
