The Shadow

Location

Every day, I go to school Watch the lukewarm Watch the droll Sit and stumble in my "cool" Eclectic silent struggle Against the shouting and the screeching And the breaking and the reeking And the tap tap tapDo. They. Hear Where's the "snap" "snap" "snap"? All the noise, our distraction Where is the invasive action? Where's the fight? To their sensitize Stare at textbook With glazed over eyes Then despise Teachers motion for correct direction When they feel nothing (or are afraid of the tension) So I slip back (clouded mind, lost apprehension) Let silence recall American isn't about living a dream It's about settling in the shadow Of an image you'd seen
