At Seventeen

At seventeen I work two damn jobs,
At seventeen I am paying on my own car,
At seventeen I think I am an adult,
All at seventeen.

At seventeen I get to complain,
At seventeen no one else has quite felt my pain,
At seventeen my depression has ate away - most of my thoughts and feelings.

But at seventeen my dedication has stayed,
At seventeen my education has not swayed,
At seventeen I am in my second year of college,
And at seventeen I plan to stay.

At seventeen my age is small,
But at seventeen my debt is high,
Yet on my name I swear,
From seventeen til' my degree - I will always try.
