Selfish

Matthew 6:21

21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Great

Staring in the distance ... searching for my heart

Why did it leave so long ago?

It left me alone ... for a while I did not miss it

Now it is close to the unknown

To involved with self and in such neglecting others

Letting my desires rule the day

My heart could not stand or really fake it

So now it’s left for others to pay

There is an empty space where it used to be

I tried to fill many a time

The hole just kept on stretching the more I put in it

I know now how I miss this heart of mine

Is it too late to recover and to invite it in?

I know I don’t deserve its return

I don’t know where to search or to recognize it

Without I just feel ready to die and burn

Listen to my words: “Try to die to self”

Learn to live for others in this world

I know you can’t do it but there’s lots of help

If you turn to Christ and His Living Word
