The "selfie" is a mask,

It's our way of keeping our eyes from the task. 

A filter for every wish or need,

And replacement for a discarded and broken memory.

We become Pretty, Popular, a glowing pearl,

but we hide our true selves from the world.

But without the selfie who are we?

On the outside are we really who we want to be?

Without the selfie theres a book in my hands.

Without the filters I'm the opposite of tan.

Without the selfie I'm proud to be a nerd.

Without the filters my freckels are stirred.

Without the selfie I'm all I've ever wanted to be.

Without the filters im simply, yet perfectly ME.
