A Selfie Cannot Reflect
Emma VanZante
What is it I'm holding?
A mindless piece of glass and plastic and without knowing
It captures every aspect of my life by the showing
Of pictures on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
It spews out my life to the world, and I not wither
Rather revel at the perpetual likes I receive on my picture
That grasps the attention of my friends and family
Who envisage my life as thrilling, unmarred and flawlessly
Perfect from a simple selfie, I honestly
Comparre the fraudulent image it portrays
To my life, my reality, not some kind of make-believe play
That selfie does not reflect my real life ways.
