The Secrets She Kept

She dreamed of living in an un-fragile state,

most would say this wasn’t her fate

Pierced by words of those she unfavored

constantly wondering, if she would be able

To free herself from all the unkind, or will burdens take her piece at a time

Time is only a fragment at best, but time is all she really has left

To un-wedge, the knives stuck in her back

Or to heal the wounds her parents have left

I can’t say for certain the degree of her fate,

But she believes she can be saved

Saved from her burdens, and the knives that caused pain

She’s determined to be someone, someday
