I tell you of a secret, a lesson I learned very young.

A message I’d like to share, in hopes of helping someone.

It did not come easily, good things usually don’t,

But if you listen closely, I’m sure you’ll learn a ton.

 

I start out with my story; it was a normal average day.

I was sitting in 3rd period, my energy slowly slipping away.

My teacher was going over rules, and just happened to say,

“If you want to be successful, there’s a price you have to pay.”

My eyes suddenly turned upon him, I was eager to hear his words.

What do I have to do, to get what I know I deserve?

He looked over at the class, and with a twinkle in his eye,

Stated: If you want something more, all you have to do is try!

 

Isn’t that amazing, that the secret to success,

Isn’t some complex phrase, just a simple “Do your best”?

What it takes to make it – To make it up on top,

Is to learn that when life is lowest - never, ever give up.

When life gets super hard, as it will inevitably be,

Have a smile on your face, dance around with glee.

Yes, failure occurs, and yes, it’s very common,

But the difference between success and failure is the effort you put on it.

 

So, what’s the secret to success?

What’s the key to a better life?

I hope you always remember,

All you have to do is try.
