Scholarship Entry - Boy Who Cried Wolf Rewrite

Long ago there was a boy

Who had outgrown nearly every toy

His parent's thought him ungrateful

But rather he had become hateful

One day he decided to play a prank

On the townspeople who had no clue

He approached the town and cried

Of an approaching wolf he named Hank

The townspeople rose to defend their homes

From the wolf that was told to be

But one thing seemed to surprise

For it was a wolf no one could see

The boy continued his ruse

Shouting again and again

But people became confused

As there was never a wolf to be slain

The next year, the boy was on a walk

As he was met by a wolf who could talk

The boy ran away and knew what he created

And the wolf knew what he awaited

Less than a mile away, the boy tripped

Something, he was sure, had ripped

He hit his head on a rock

The boy did not return from his walk

When the boy awoke, he was confused

He was in a cylindrical room

with stone walls and a single broom

And the room had never been used

Appear from nowhere did the wolf

And he began to speak in a gravelly voice

"You are being punished," said the wolf

The boy looked on, confused and questioning his choice

"You have angered your peers,

Now you will be punished" said the wolf

The boy became horrified

And the wolf began to sneer

No one ever heard from the boy

And the rumors all ended in death

But the world moved on unaware of Roy

And he never breathed his last breath

Many years later another boy turned

Into an ungrateful one in which a plan churned

He would tell of a great wolf that would attack

But he went missing, and never came back
