You are made of:
sticks and stones and
the velvet of every cloud you could ever touch.

Bound together by:
Frail, blue threads
That tangle and knot,
Skin and sinew that glows in the moonlight
When no one is around to say,
“Look, how you shine.”

You are made of:
dead stars and dying cells
like everyone you’ve ever loved and
everyone you’ve ever hated and
everyone ever to live.

But you, living with a heart like a sparrow
trapped in the cage of your ribs,
You are made of something stronger
than the hands that rend you out of shape.

You are made of flesh, and cotton,
and more hope than you could ever hold.
