Saved

There's a piece missing from my heart
Stomped on, shattered, torn apart
A feeling hangs over me, the feeling of dread
From that moment that everything was soaked in red
It pooled around and pulled me deeper
It was my master, it was my keeper
I couldn't escape, it kept me chained
It's grip never loosened it never waned
It kept me in darkness deep inside
There was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide
It took over my life, waiting for me to die
I couldn't escape or even try
I was so weighed down with pain and sorrow
I thought that it would be the same tomorrow
But then an angel came and showed me the light
Gave me the strength to get up and fight
Led me out and showed me the way
Now my skies are blue instead of gray
And now as I'm helped to live and grow
I'll always remember and always know
That when the master tries to ensnare me
It's grip will falter because I am free
It can never control me, I'm on the right track
I'm moving forward and not looking back
