Save Me From Myself (human trafficking)

Location

Dear Mom and Dad, how are things with you?

Has everything been alright?

Did everyone sleep tight?

Me in a shell, to tell you the truth,

I can't complain, it'd make things worse.

Am I under a curse?

You know my friend who knew this guy,

Said he had an open spot,

figured I'd just take a shot.

Now here I sit, waiting to die.

I'd rather you not ask me more,

or else they're getting you for sure.

It's so dark in here I can barely see him

slip inside.

Nineteenth man today;

more are on the way.

Play connect-the-dots

with these cuts and clots

as I'm stripped away…

Nothing to say and nowhere to hide.

Save me from myself; free me from this hell.

I feel so alone, I just want to go home,

where my love ain't somebody's to sell.

Just save me from myself…

Hi Mom and Dad, just passing through.

I'm sorry 'bout my grades at school,

and for breaking all the rules.

Walking outside and out of the blue,

some strangers in a slowed-down car,

came to take me someplace far,

and now it's,

night after night, clubs, bars and shows.

Like a mannequin I'm on display,

broken if they don't get their way.

Don't act surprised, that's how it goes.

Says he'll kill me if he sees me cry.

Kissed my last trace of hope goodbye.

The streets are as unforgiving as the cold,

steel rain.

Some man's fantasy:

is that all I'll ever be?

And they will not stop

'til they see me drop

and I wonder as I lie here and bleed…

…will I ever see you again?

Come on and save me from myself; free me from this hell.

I feel so alone, I just want to go home,

where my love ain't somebody's to sell.

Just save me from myself--

But you don't know how it feels, you weren't there.

You're screaming for help but the world doesn't care,

and I've lost so much more than pride.

Drugs, guns and people.

Where's the fucking steeple?

Are the doors locked from inside?

Dear Jesus Christ, just where were you?

Were there better things to do and see,

than save a girl like me?

Save me from myself; free me from this hell.

I feel so alone, I just want to go home,

where my love ain't somebody's to sell.

Just save me from myself…

Great poem. You should read mine. It's called my new left hand, and it tells a story about me living with my foster parent.
