Satire: Appreciation for self

Galatians 6:15            New English Translation

15 For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matter is a new creation!

A straight blow with a crooked stick

If the shoe fits put it in your mouth and shut up

The old creation that is in me, the old self I mean

The natural in body, and soul, the one that’s never free

It does not mind the good I do. It lets me preach and sing

In bible study, benevolence and worshipping my King

The old creation is so good it will even submit to Him

As long as it’s committed to being active and live with Him

The flesh remains unshaken in its belief of its own ability

And serving God in the flesh seems filled with total futility

In “leading” folks to Christ fills it with satisfaction

Changing God’s Grace, misplacing the gift of redemption

As God changed me through His Spirit and transformation

My flesh crept in unaware, while I thought it to be of His Making

And so as my will roams in its desires

It credits my Lord for my vision and pride

I stumble on happy as I am doing “His” Will

Blind as a bat to truth, that I now will kill

My own admiration and my deep self-trust

It will help me serve fully, for that is a must

I admire the mirror that shows my reflection

I seem different than most striving for perfection
