Sane Is Overrated

Location

What would I change?
Only how people sling around the word 'crazy' like a weightless thing, myself included.
When really it's an offensive thing, with such a negative ring; it's not to be diluted.
When there's people out there who suffer day and night without reprieve; dealing with pain you couldn't believe.
When the voices arise, the bad choices disguise themselves as something good.
When the depression rears its ugly head, and they're crying to themselves in bed, not knowing how to do what they should.
Because the world doesn't want you to broadcast HELP or SOS, and it tells you things like 'TOUGHEN UP' and it ignores the distress.
It teaches you to be ashamed, to hide your mental ailment which shouldn't be named, to let these disorders go unclaimed--unless you want ridicule.
Not to get the help you need with something that could be easily treatable, easily affordable, easily acceptable if not for the societal perpetuation of joking about your pain.
And all for the sake of claiming ourselves sane.
I would change the way we think about mentality and the stigma attached to it; if we tried hard, we could really do it.
Remove images of white asylums from peoples' minds, teach the world to be a little more kind, less "You're just under the weather"s and more "We'll get through this together"s.
More people learning how to reveal what should never be hidden, speak up about what is wrongly forbidden.
Without fear, without isolation, but only to open arms and dedication.
It's easy, it's simple, it may take awhile, but it's worth it to change the world, to see more people smile.
