San Antonio
Away from California, the land that I knew
Into the heart of Texas, with a culture that was new
The city was humid, which made me feel the heat
That was nothing compared to the peppers I would soon eat
We went to a parade called Fiesta Flambeau
I bought from a food truck and said “Now that’s a Taco!”
It was strange, people were speaking spanish perfectly
All I was good at was wondering around uselessly
School was out; my head was still spinning like vinyl
I thought Fiesta was the big party, until the Spurs won the NBA Finals
The parade was as diverse as the team, I give them credit
Players from Argentina, France, you name it
Christmas came around, and the family got together
This was no ordinary holiday, it would be better
We could’ve had suburban west coast food like always
But no, this time around we had infinite tamales
In a city with a majority hispanic population throughout
And a family with that same description
Knowledge of hispanic culture and tradition
Shows me that culture is something I can't live without
