Saltwater Fishing

Everything is calm,

The salt on my lips reminds me

Of my childhood not so long ago,

The waves crashing into me show

Signs of sure hope.

Everything is calm

Everything is exciting,

I throw my line and watch

As the cork bobs above the sea,

My fingers tingle in anticipation

While I wait and I plea.

Everything is exciting

Everything is steady,

My worries flee

As I set the hook,

I need to see what is on the line

But do I dare take one look?

Everything is steady

And then I realize that calm, exciting, and steady have left me gazing

And that the tug on my line is what makes life amazing
