Sadie

Location

A ray of sun streaking through the grass,

She collects dewdrops on her fur

Sepia eyes take in nature’s aura,

Her tail wags in a black blur

Sadie runs to the shade of the oak,

Her moist noise brushing my arm like a butterfly’s wing stroke,

My hand flutters over her soft black pelt,

She looks to the sun; snout in a beaming smile,

I have much farm-work to do,

But I think I’ll just stay here awhile
