The Road

Location

A girl walks the perfect road

Sun shining bright like always

Day after day

Sadness does not exist

For she knows not what it is

She continues to walk this perfect road

But without warning it ends

Family and friends

All around her stand

But they'll never understand

She begins to walk the blackened road

It'll only lead her astray

Day after day

Happiness does not exist

For she cannot remember what it is

She continues to walk this blackened road

Her heart breaks and morals bend

Family and friends

Off to the side they stand

For what they do not know they cannot understand

And suddenly, the tables begin to turn...

She is walking the hopeful road

A friend has shown her a way out

The perfect route

On her face tears of happiness

For now she remembers what it is

She continues to walk this hopeful road

But things aren't what she thought they'd be

Yet is still free

From the brick wall before he

For in hope she is sure

She begins to walk the unguided road

She joins another crowd

The perfect route

On her face, tears of sadness

For now she remembers what it is

She continues to walk this unguided road

Satan in her life just won't leave

Yet is still free

Except from the brick walls surrounding her

For in hope she is unsure

And suddenly, the tables begin to burn...

She is no longer walking the painful road

But crawling, dragging her soul through it

Minute after minute

Unnoticed in an uncaring world

For she knows she's just another girl

She no longer continues to walk this painful road

She lays there, shouts and screams,

"Somebody help me! Please!"

And it grows and grows her fear

For she knows no one will hear

She wants to quit the agonizing road

But the guilt won't let her quit

Minute after minute

Going unnoticed more and more she hurts

For in the world she's just another girl

She continues to quit walking this agonizing road

Tired of giving these words vain lease,

"Somebody help me, please!"

And she knows the consequences of her fear

For one day she won't be here

And suddenly her heart begins to yearn…

To walk Heavenly Father's road

Complete with angels and truth

In her youth

And for now and all eternity

For she knows it grants serenity

To continue to walk Heavenly Father's road

Because it's the only way back home

Prayer the phone

At all times and in all things and in all places

For she believes with undying faith

To enjoy the blessed broken road

Take the examples of Esther and Ruth

In her youth

Now and forever an example to be

For it shall always grant serenity

To enjoy this blessed broken road

Even with a bleeding heart and broken bones

Prayer the phone

It'll help make things a little better someday

For she can never doubt with undying faith

I am so grateful the tables turned.
