R.I.P. Our Hero (for John)

Location

I remember being a young child

Playing at Grandma’s alongside you

We were kids all running wild

How quickly those times flew

You grew up to be a great young man

Standing strong as could be

Among the men and women

Who fight to keep us free

I want to thank you, John

For serving our country

I hope you know how proud

You’ve made your family

You truly are a hero

Every day you made us proud

All the while you were fighting

We know you’re resting now

We know you are in Heaven

Feeling free and at peace

We know you’ve been reunited

With beloved family

To say that you are missed

Would not quite be enough

We’ll think of you always

Please know how much you’re loved

I still can’t believe what’s happened

The pain will never fade

In our hearts and on our minds

You will forever stay
