Do you know how many people you left
or how many people cried
I wish you could have counted the tears
that came from everybody's eyes
I stopped counting the nights
that I was jolted wide awake
By the nightmares of watching
as you finally break
You left them behind
and I tried to stay strong
Because you left someone special
who could not carry on
He thought about you and the times you shared
every single day
And I few times I could have sworn
that I saw him pray
Begging and pleading with a power
that may not even exist
To bring you back home
because you are truly missed
He loved you, you know
so much it hurt to watch
As he sat in the garage and cursed
trying to fill your spot
"I can't do this" he would tell me
and he'd curse a little more
"I can't do this" he'd stutter
and fall upon the floor
I picked up the pieces
and hoped that he'd understand
That he didn't need to replace you
he was still a great man
His pain was shadowed by others
people who were closer to you on paper
So he stepped back and comforted others
and saved his pain for later
But I'm sure you didn't think of any of this
when you grabbed the gun
But I hope you can see
that we had nowhere to run
We will feel the pain
and we will feel the sorrow
Because we have to face everyday
knowing that you aren't in our tomorrow
