The Rhythm of Words

My heart beats to the rhythm of words.
To the rat-tat-tat,
and the bat-bat-bat.
To the gentle cumulative sway of weighted syllables and sounds,
Rolling off of the tongue.

It thumps to the awesome power of an insightful anecdote.
To the colloquialisms of everyday literacy,
to the meticulous sonnets of poets long ago gone;

rat-tat-tat, oh-bat-bat-bat.

To the rise-and fall-of passionate speech.
To the deep swell of beckoning language, arousing your soul to its very core with only the wonderfully deceitful articulation of sounds!
     -oh yes, I am a slave to this delicious poison, which leaves me faint with dire ecstasy.
My heart beats-to the rhythm, of words.
