The Rhythm of Starlight

the stars have a rhythm when they twinkle

have you noticed?

if we could hear them, what would they sound like?

what melody are they playing?

does each constellation have their own song?

if so, the night sky must be a symphony

playing for the angels

a choir of voices singing multitudes of songs

never before heard

never before imagined

if I could just get closer, maybe I could hear them

or maybe I’ve been hearing them all along

maybe it’s the music in my head

in the background

that my thoughts beat to

that I’ve never paid attention to

because I’m thinking

always thinking

and never listening.
