Response to "Ping" by Samuel Beckett

Ears ringing
Needing to scream but can't because of fear
Vision blurs
Can still see shapes of friends as the collapse onto the floor
Pain of kneeling isn't felt
Lower head in admittance that I will die

POP

I can't see, I can't see
My entire body collapses with the pop
Everything slows drastically
Sound stops
My body reaches the cold cement slowly
The cold is only overpowered by the warmth radiating from the POP site
I know it's blood and I've been shot
Relief is overwhelming
I'm done
I don't have to worry anymore
I'm free
I feel myself slipping into darkness
I'm terrified of letting go but relief is too overwhelming
The darkness begins to lighten slowly in the center but fades away to darker black
