Remembering is Cancer

White robed skeleton

They had to lift you -

three or four at most

How did it feel

to be so powerless?

You could barely speak

and I forgot the words

How does it feel

to only wait

to only wait

aware of your fate

Hospital beds

don't belong in houses

They belong in hospitals

We became doctors

when doctors could do no more

Young enough to just watch

and I forgot the words

Remembering is to be put off

until it kills you

Like that demon, cancer

Remembering is my cancer

I will walk down

a thousand blue hallways

just to forget again

This poem is about:
My family
