Remember

Not wasting a single second of the day,

By always being active.

When we looked forward to recess,

Or gym time.

When we were excited to play basketball,

Or soccer.

Remember when we weren’t glued to the newest technology?

Our Nokias and Sidekicks were there,

But it wasn’t our whole life.

Remember when we never wanted to stay in the house?

We would always want to be outside,

Running around like dogs,

Exploring places,

Like an adventurer would.

Now we are stuck to our phones,

We are indoors mostly,

Unless when we need to be bothered to go to work,

Or school.

Headphones in our ears,

Phones in our hands,

Our eyes constantly on the screen,

Our fingers busy tapping away,

Tweeting our inner thoughts and opinions,

Facebooking our various adventures,

Instagramming pictures of our friends and ourself.

So immersed in social media,

That we become a shallow shell of ourselves,

Once we turn on our phone.

Our world is vast and yet,

We are,

Missing the view around us,

Missing out on memories yet to be made.
