The Red Headed Girl

There was a girl

With long blonde hair

and freckles that kissed her cheeks

And she didn't feel she belonged

There was a girl

With short, red, banged hair

She found the blonde girl

and made her a home

She gathered the peices

of the blonde girls broken heart

and put them in the shape

of a home

She took the bandages

off of her bandaged soul

and gave her a shot

of true happiness

She showed her more kindness

Than anyone before

and showed her family

Who would take care of her

Family doesn't mean your blood

It is the people who

Would do anything for you

and follow you to the end of the earth

The people who make you smile

When all you feel is the cloud over your head

The people who don't mind

When you show up crying at their door

The people who wrap you in a blanket

When you come inside from the snow

and have a cup of cocoa

Waiting by the fire

The people who tell you

When you're doing wrong

But will support

The decisions you make

One day the blonde

Looked to the redhead

and asked her the question

That had been on her duct taped heart

"Why did you save me that day?"

and the redhead looked puzzled

but then titlted her head up and said,

"You looked lost."

So that day

When the red head found me

Not only did I make a friend

I was introduced to my family
