Reality Leaks

Thu, 12/09/2021 - 20:03 -- jglucia

I recently had a dream

A foggy, misty sort of scene

My recollection a warm hue

And quiet beeping

Beep

Beep

Beep

It crescendos

Louder and longer

And inside my head

I’m sure as this happens

I lay peacefully in my bed

With each beep

Blurry faces appear in my sleep

Their silhouettes, familiar

They whisper

In hushy little tones

Blurring together,

I know you can do better.

Don't be lazy

You’ll never get an exception letter

Why do you argue

But you know just be you.

They,

Hypocritical

I,

In a whirlwind

Little tiny wisps of air as they pick up speed in an unforgiving cycle,

Churning together to create a tornado of-

And I am pinned

Stuck,

To the scarecrow

In the cornfields

Of the place, I am from

Just another label

Put on top of me

And in this dream

Reality leaks into the imagination

I used to call home.
