The real world says the N Word

Wed, 11/07/2018 - 18:06 -- oladey

I write this to you

Agbo, dear beloved cousin.

Despite what they say

In your sheltered rooms,

The real world says the N Word:

Loud, hostile, hurtful.

You are not Yoruba,

But a black American

Weak and overreaching.

Submit or I shoot.

The real world says Nigger.

Remain low, bow, yield!

I write this to you

Agbo, dear beloved cousin.

Despite what they say:

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
