Real & Ideal

Each step forward was like a child learning to walk

Each word from your tongue made me weak in the knees,

hard to talk;

Uncontrollable laughter reminded me of my childhood days

You made me believe that nothing in the world would make us change our ways

From hole in the walls, to Classic dinners, and Juke joints

Every destination was like reaching a new point

Energetic, full of life, everything about you seemed surreal

The gaze in your eyes as if your easing into one's soul  when you smile

Soft spoken like he had a million secrets, yet nothing to conceal;

Who did I fall in love with? Someone who's real or ideal?

See the difference between the two is quite simple:

Whats real is who you showed me you really are

Whats ideal is who you led me to believe you'd be

You see;

Everyone wants what they want

What you want you can't get with the truth

The world just won't accept it

Just like they won't accept you

So on your journey to finding the truth

You find the difference between the two

What's real, what's ideal, and whats accepted is up to you
