Rapunzel and Her Man

There she sat

In the heat of the day,

Brushing her hair,

And singing away.

Rapunzel had no friends,

She had no lovers.

The only family she had

Was a very loving mother.

But as the days got longer

And her hair grew heavier,

Her mother tried to help

And she would just swear at her.

You see, Rapunzel’s mother,

She loved her dearly,

But Rapunzel didn’t like her,

In fact, she hated her severely.

One day her mother,

Went up in the tower,

To find her daughter gone,

Leaving only a flower.

For days she searched,

For nights for cried,

She tried her hardest

But she feared Rapunzel had died.

As the days grew longer,

And the winter got colder,

Her dear, loving mother

Grew older and older.

Eventually she locked the tower,

Knowing that she’d never return,

Forever crying,

And destined to mourn.

Now many still wonder,

How Rapunzel disappeared

And how her old mother,

Unknowingly feared.

You see, Rapunzel never loved,

She only knew hate,

For the mother she knew,

Wouldn’t let her date.

She escaped out the window,

Down her long golden hair,

To a man from the market

Who gave her a hare.

Now they live happily,

Not knowing of her mother,

For she never cared,

She never wondered.
