Raindrops fall like a child’s tears
Very few of them being useful
I watch the worms struggle
Scrape their bellies upon the concrete
Pleased with their cleverness
For having survived the flood
But just as a child’s tears are wont to do
The rain evaporates quickly
I watch as the worms grow still
Forever first place in their victory trail
Killed carelessly by their own safety
And I wonder where I am scraping my belly
