Rainbow
The storm brewed
Swirling in the sky, it loomed above
No way to know when it would strike
The wind whipped my hair
I looked around trying to understand
Why I was in the eye of the storm
Why I was surrounded by the travesty about to strike
Why I couldnt escape
There was no escape
All I could do was hope
But was there any reason for hope
Suddenly it hit
The most terrible feeling
The feeling of losing all control
The wind tore down the home we built
The rain flooded all the flowers that we planted
I sunk to my knees watching everything fall apart
Everything I knew was no longer
I was living in a nightmare
I couldnt wake up
The wind roared
The rain pounded the ground
I looked up and screamed
Screamed until my lungs hurt
Then suddenly it stopped
I fell to my knees
My body was covered in bruises
My soul covered in scars
I couldn't understand
Why you would conjure up something
So terrible and vile
You hurt me
You hurt me
You hurt me
My eyes were tightly closed
When I opened them my whole life was destroyed
Nothing was how it used to be
It would never be how it used to be
I would never be who I used to be
My life enshrouded in the darkness
That was left behind by the storm
You made
My mind spiraled
I lost control
Until one ray of light pushed through the darkness
Then another
And another
And another
Until my mind was blinding
My eyes flew open
And the sun was waiting for me
It was warm
And safe
It welcomed me
It pointed me west
And I looked
My eyes gazed upon a magical view
Colors brightened the sky
Sparkled in my eye
The rainbow ahead shone bright
Begging me to realize
That I was okay
I would be okay
Better than okay
I glanced around at the destruction
That surrounded me
I looked back towards the rainbow in the sky
A smile crossed my mouth
Sometimes the most beautiful things
Come after the storm
And I will never
Let you ruin me again
