Rain

Location

I like rainstorms

They wash the world around me

It smells new

The smell of petrichor softly stains the air I breathe

I can walk in different worlds in the aftermath

The amplified hush of Indiana towns

The splashing rush of East Coast Cities

Plants grow

Dead leaves and litter become soggy mush

Buildings lose their dust

Rain is an ambient situational mutagen

Changing everything it touches, if only briefly

People can be like that, too

Regardless of how long the change lasts, a person influences those around them

To speak, act, be different

Sometimes those changes can be permanent

Damaging, even

The nature of the change is immaterial

Change is all that matters
