Race

Hebrews 12:1 The Race of Faith12 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,Running

Running full speed away from myself

hoping to win the race of life.

The track seems endless ... no finish in sight

no guidelines or markers ... just strife.

I’ve lost the competition ... I’m running alone

against a timeline of my own making.

I’m picking up speed ... while out of breath

I’m going in circles ... and seem to be fainting.

Maybe I should let myself catch up

at least then I have someone to talk too

Doesn’t make sense ... we’ve little in common.

Isn’t that why I left ... I felt we were through?

I guess I was wrong ... “myself” is with me

with others in this race ... I hope I’ll catch up.

I lost from the start ... thinking I could outrun him

thinking that racing ... would help us match up.

I know we’re a team ... now in the relay of life.

Winning or losing is a matter of perception.

To finish the race and doing our utmost best

will through obedience show us perfection.
