Quite a Dish!

Location

I was invited to a buffet.

All you can eat, they assured me.

And all you must, they forewarned.

Got too much on my plate.

On the verge of explosion.

Yet still I had not finished

the main course of the day.

But it was not on my account!

'Twas still alive! Not yet cooked.

I chased it around the universe;

I chased it to the Sun.

But somewhere near infinity,

it turned around

and chased me

to yet another buffet.

Except this time, I was the main course

for its infinite gluttony,

its starving, greedy hands.

Tick tock tick tock, it urged!

Tick tock tick tock, it hushed...

Tick tock tick tock, it laughed.

For its lust had been fulfilled:

I was made Alice,

forever wandering, dying

yet laughing

in its delicious Wonderland.
