A Quiet Leader
I was told being an extrovert was better.
But what they didn't know,
Was that the words were a heavy blow.
I didn't want to be "better"
And just wished they would let it go.
I liked me, why didn't they?
But they saw it as a magical gateway.
That my problems could be solved
If only I would use more words to be involved.
But I am only the person I am today,
Because one woman decided there was another way.
Asked about my strengths and told me those are leader qualities,
That being able to talk and be loud are leader commodities.
She let me be me,
Letting those I led and myself see,
That a leader can be quiet,
and quietly lead.
