i know i enjoy
the sun and the moon
the start and the end
the hunger and the fulfillment
and your steps next to mine

i learned these things like i learned

humor
cooking
writing
knitting
step by step
carefully
achingly
enduring

like the coffee grinds in my cupboard and the tea box on the counter
i learned to love all these things patiently and i found them sweetly fufilling

but i had to know them first before i could know you
