The Psychic’s Tale
Come all come thee come listen to me.
I am going to tell you a story about a girl in her teens.
So listen well and be wise,
for this young lady is one to despise.
This tale takes place
in an ugly looking waste.
Keep this in mind,
while my story takes you for a ride.
“Martha!” her mother shouted. “Hurry up, you are going to be late for school”
“Mother!” she replied. “You know I hate that name, so don’t call me that you fool!
I’ll walk myself so please don’t bother.
You are an embarrassment just like my father.
One day I will become rich and leave you two behind.
Thank you for wasting 17 years of my valuable time.
I won’t need to work or even break a nail,
I’ll be a stay home mom who just reads the mail.”
The mother with a sound of hope in her voice said “Oh honey you will never learn,
see fortune is something that is not easily earned.
There is so much more to life
than being a rich wife.
Having diamonds that are bright
will not teach you wrong from right.
You may think of me as filthy trash.
But we will see who ends up with the last laugh.”
Years went by and Martha never came back.
She found a man who carried a gigantic stack.
He held her so high, as if she were on cloud nine.
Nothing could stop her not even birds in the sky.
Eventually that money ran out though;
listen here to find out how the rest of the tale goes.
“Martha!” her angry husband screamed. “You have made me poor
so go out to the streets and make some more.
I don’t care how you do it,
for the love of God just get straight to it!”
Although she was scared for her life, she was still brave enough to reply
“Are you out of your mind? Or are you just plain blind?
Women like me do not do chores that waste their time.
Since you have no more money,
nor are you feeding my tummy,
you are no longer worthy to me.
So I think it is right if I just leave.”
With his voice louder than ever he yelled “Woman you’re the one who is out of your mind.
Not today, not tomorrow will you ever leave me behind.
You are going to work!
And I could care less if you think I’m a jerk.
You gave me your hand in marriage;
now prepare yourself for a life without horse carriages.”
And so Martha had no choice but to get a job.
Not once did she ever imagine she would have to rob.
This is the story of Martha McKeees,
a girl that since her teens was never easily pleased
