Pride

I'm smiling on the outside,

But on the inside I'm breaking.

If you wonder how I do that,

Well darling, its called faking.

And I really do hate mirrors,

'Cause all they do is lie to me.

The longer I look into one,

The more I hate what I see.

All of you never see

What your words really do to me.

I've been hiding for so long that it seems normal.

And all the words of hatred

Spout from your lips like acid.

All you "Christians" feel so good about your morals.

Let me be me.

Let me love who I love.

You are not God.

So what right have you to judge?

You discard your sons and daughters.

But, what hurts them more?

Being hated by their mothers and fathers,

Or being loved for who they are.

We're really not all that strange.

So, please don't call us queer.

How many more of us does God have to make,

Before you realize he wants us here?

There needs to be a change in this world.

Your words and your actions reach far.

How is this equality,

When boys and girls would rather die than be who they are?

With the suicide rates in this country,

Its a wonder we all aren't dead.

And if you're confused about what the cause is,

Its those hateful words you put into their head.

Oh! So you don't like gay couples adopting?

How does that make any sense?

Straight couples should stop having kids they aren't wanting.

You never deny babies to them.

You say, "Oh, those kids will get bullied!

Growing up with no mom and two dads."

Maybe you should teach your kids not to bully!

No matter where they come from or what they have.

It doesn't seem like that hard of a concept to me.

To love and accept, instead of hate.

To let two moms adopt a baby.

To let two guys go on a date.

There's a saying, "Come out of the closet."

Well, its scary and dark inside!

And I was afraid that once I stepped out,

The light would make me blind.

But when I opened my eyes to the sunlight,

And raised my head to the oncoming sun,

I realized I didn't have my eyes shut, tight.

It is you who has all along.

Now its time, to open your eyes.

And see.
