Practicing Chromatography

I think that I learned this in biology

Once upon a time

So, the substance uncouples through the medium

With different speeds and time

Now sit. Wait. Hypothesize.

Weighting: the results are coming in.

My lab partner rambles idly,

“tell me about your plans for tomorrow

--or maybe about what you ate.

Isn’t it neat, the way that the shades separate?”

A commonplace design

I loom over the indicator dye

Behind opening the wrapping like a Snickers

After all, it is just

Colors becoming distinct

Two phases

reflection. Visible light.
