Practice what you preach
Galatians 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries,
dissensions, factions, 21 envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things.
I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things
will not inherit the kingdom of God!
“My flesh”, Hey! Here I go again.
I again pay you attention.
I believe you to be worthless
but you’re taking all my time.
You’re filled with so much wickedness
that I don’t like to be with you.
You defile everything you touch
and that happens all the time.
2 Peter 2:21-22
21 For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than,
having known it, to turn back from the holy commandment that had been delivered to them.
22 They are illustrations of this true proverb: “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and
“A sow, after washing herself, wallows in the mire.”
You influence my reasoning.
You control most of my mind.
You complement yourself
when I’m acting very kind.
Your desires are never fulfilled.
You want more all the time.
You’re constantly expanding
and that happens all the time.
You’re filled with immortality.
“I’m pure”, is your middle name.
You’re selfish and you’re jealous.
You don’t have any shame.
You strife and like dissention
and are carousing all the time.
At idolatry and sorcery you smile
and that happens all the time.
You are at enmity with God.
You don’t like your Maker.
You want to rule in darkness.
In truth you are a faker.
You’ve been dead since you were born
but you’re still feeling fine.
As long as you are getting your way
and that happens all the time.
All you can reproduce,
is exactly like you.
You can’t be changed or altered
long ago you chose that way.
You must die ... you’re beyond repair
that’s why you always whine.
When you are dead ... all problems solved
that does not happen all the time.
Galatians 5:24
24 Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
When you die to yourself ... you can be educated. (Romans 6:7)
The will then ... will regulate your way.
You can be tamed and not be simulated.
You will step out of self ... as you quietly pray.
Oh, flesh! You are my body.
Oh, flesh! You are my mind.
Oh, flesh! My old nature in hiding,
and that happens all the time.
Romans 6:6-7
6 We know that our old man was crucified with him so that the body of sin
would no longer dominate us, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.
7 (For someone who has died has been freed from sin.)
